Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

Maison Velour LTD is the data controller for the personal information described in this policy.

2. What we collect

When you contact us, browse our store, create an account or place an order, we may collect the following:

  • Contact data: your name, email address and the content of any message you send us.
  • Order data: your billing and delivery address, phone number, the items you buy and your order history.
  • Account data: if you create an account, your login details, saved addresses, order history and any preferences you store.
  • Payment data: the reference details of your bank transfer, so we can match your payment to your order. We accept bank transfers only and never collect or store card details.
  • Technical and usage data: your IP address, browser and device type, and how you use the site (pages viewed, clicks). This is collected through cookies.
  • Marketing data: your preferences for receiving marketing from us, if you have opted in.

We do not knowingly collect sensitive information, and we do not buy personal information from anyone else.

3. Why we use it, and our legal basis

We use your information to:

  • process and deliver your orders, and manage your account (legal basis: performance of a contract)
  • respond to your enquiries (legal basis: legitimate interests)
  • meet our legal and tax obligations, for example keeping records of sales (legal basis: legal obligation)
  • improve our store and understand how it is used (legal basis: legitimate interests)
  • send you marketing, only if you have asked us to (legal basis: consent)

You can withdraw your consent to marketing at any time using the unsubscribe link or by contacting us.

4. Cookies and tracking

This site uses cookies. Necessary cookies are required for the store to work – for example to keep you logged in and remember the contents of your cart. With your consent, we also use analytics and marketing cookies.

  • Necessary (always active): WordPress and WooCommerce cookies for login, sessions and your shopping cart, and a cookie that stores your consent choices.
  • Analytics (with your consent): Google Analytics, to understand how visitors use the site. Information is collected in aggregate and no personally identifiable information is stored.
  • Marketing (with your consent): WooCommerce Order Attribution, to understand which source or campaign an order came from.

When you first visit, a cookie banner lets you accept or reject non-essential cookies, and you can change your choice at any time through the cookie preferences link. For the full list of cookies, see our Cookie Policy.

5. Who we share it with

We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not share it for advertising. We use a small number of service providers who process information on our behalf and only on our instructions:

  • Our web hosting and security provider, which serves this website.
  • Our email provider, which delivers and stores the messages you send us and any order emails.
  • Our delivery partners, which ship your order to you.
  • Our analytics provider (Google Analytics), where you have consented to analytics cookies.

We may also disclose information where we are legally required to do so.

6. International transfers

Some of our service providers operate outside the United Kingdom and the European Economic Area. Where that is the case, the transfer is covered by appropriate safeguards, such as UK and EU standard contractual clauses.

7. How long we keep it

We keep enquiry correspondence for no longer than 24 months after our last contact with you. We keep order and account records for as long as your account is active and, after that, for as long as we are legally required to (for tax and accounting purposes this is normally up to 6 years). After the applicable period the information is deleted.

8. How we protect it

The site is served over HTTPS. Access to your information is restricted to the people who need it and is protected by strong authentication. No system is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to keep your information safe.

9. Your rights

You have the right to:

  • Ask what personal information we hold about you, and get a copy
  • Have inaccurate information corrected
  • Have your information deleted
  • Restrict or object to how we use it
  • Receive your information in a portable format
  • Withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on consent

To exercise any of these, email info@maison-velour.com. We will respond within one month. There is no charge.

10. Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right.

You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk. If you are in the European Economic Area, you may complain to the supervisory authority in your own country instead.

11. Children

This site is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

12. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page. Where the change is significant, we will say so clearly.
